Starting Salary: £53,806 plus £8,560 market enhancement pay, progressing to £59,497 plus £8,607 market enhancement pay per annum
Hours: 37.0
 
Location: Hemel Hempstead with travel across the West of the county

About the team

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to lead a Family Safeguarding Team to ensure good social work practice that supports children, young people and families. Whilst you will be joining a Ofsted rating outstanding Local Authority, we continue to ensure good practice standards are maintain so we provide the best service for our children young people and families.  
 
 The team you will be manage is a mix of Qualified Social Worker’s, Children’s Practitioner, Family Practitioner and an Adult worker.  The team is culturally diverse reflecting the makeup of the families with whom we work.   You be will part of a dynamic group of managers who work closely together offering support where needed.

Hertfordshire has a brilliant training programme and therefore you will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of training as part of your continues development.  

The Family Safeguarding Programme is our practice model and this allows for adult workers, ie Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Drug and Alcohol practitioner and the motivational interviewing practitioner to work alongside the Lead Professional to support families.  The FS model is aimed to support practitioners to be change agents supporting parents to change behaviours that increase safeguarding concerns.


About the role

As a Team Manager you will lead the team which includes:

  • Overseeing Social Work Practice in the team.
  • Offering welfare and reflective supervision, ensuring that professional curiosity in encouraged.
  • Offering guidance and oversight to Practitioners through the use of effective management.  Reviewing plans aimed to safeguarding children and young people.
  • You will provide expert advice and guidance in relation to decision making and care planning for children supported by Child In Need plans, Child Protection Plans and Care proceedings.
  • You will be responsible for a number of staff in a Family Safeguarding Team, with direct line management of up to seven practitioners of varied experience.
  • Maintaining KPI’s including reviewing and maintaining performance around the use and recording in the Family Safeguarding workbook.
  • Role modelling good practice and ensure clear oversight of the Family Safeguarding Parenting Programme which is the Hertfordshire model of practice, ensuring that all practitioners complete programme and record timely.


About you

Applicants for this post will need:

Essential:

  • Social Work qualification and Social Work England registration.
  • 5 years post qualifying experience of working within a safeguarding environment.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of the Family Safeguarding model.
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Equality, and Inclusion.
  • Strong knowledge of policies, procedures and effective leadership skills.
  • Ability to offer robust case direction and reflective supervision.
  • Ability to manage poor performance effectively.
  • Ability to develop and sustain partnerships across teams and be an effective advocate for the Council.
  • UK driving licence and access to a car.

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with the Family Safeguarding model.
  • To have worked in a similar setting and have experience of staff supervision and management.
  • Practice educator.

Driving required
