Job Title: Senior EHC Coordinator - SEND
Location: Apsley, Hemel Hempstead
Starting salary: £42,839 to £47,181 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
About the role
We’re looking for experienced and motivated Senior EHC Coordinator to join our School Age Statutory SEND Service.
This position specialises in holding a caseload, with a particular focus on special school cases. You’ll model excellence in casework practice, champion person‑centred approaches, and ensure strong communication with families, schools, and partners.
You’ll champion person‑centred practice, strong communication, and high‑quality EHC plans, ensuring statutory timescales and performance standards are met. You’ll provide supervision, oversee induction and training, and build positive relationships with families, schools, and partners.
- Hold a specialist caseload, including children and young people placed in special school settings
- Oversee the quality and timeliness of EHC plan review paperwork.
- Lead statutory SEND casework within a defined locality.
- Build strong locality‑based relationships with education settings and partners.
- Provide day‑to‑day line management to EHC Coordinators and Review Officers.
- Formal supervision and staff development (PMDS).
- Induction, training, and ongoing professional development for staff.
- Accurate record‑keeping and database management.
- Contribution to quality assurance, policy development, and service improvement.
- Participation in cross‑county management groups.
About You
- In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and statutory guidance, including the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, and SEND Regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply these effectively in practice.
- Previous experience with casework management
- Proven experience in leading and managing staff, with a track record of delivering excellent service outcomes.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure, managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across education, health, and care services.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, or significant experience within education or SEND-related roles.
