About the team
Be at the heart of shaping a sector‑leading Prevention system
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service is building a modern, data‑driven Prevention strategy, and we are investing in digital tools that genuinely improve community safety outcomes. To deliver this, we are looking for a talented, forward‑thinking professional to take a leading role in the development and enhancement of our Community Fire Risk Management Information System (CFRMIS).
This is more than system support. It is an opportunity to design, build and optimise a platform that underpins how we identify risk, target resources and keep our communities safe.
If you enjoy developing applications, improving workflows, and translating operational needs into smart and intuitive digital solutions, this role offers a real chance to shape the future of how Prevention works across Hertfordshire.
You will sit within the Prevention team and work closely with Digital Services, operational staff and third‑party suppliers to develop and support CFRMIS.
Your primary focus will be to:
- Enhance and modernise CFRMIS functionality to align with our evolving Service needs.
- Develop quickscreens, workflows and user‑friendly interfaces using HTML, CSS and SQL where required.
- Administer and maintain the application, ensuring stability, performance and data integrity.
- Act as the system’s lead technical point of contact, working with users, the software provider and internal teams to resolve issues and drive improvements.
- Introduce new features and innovations, exploiting the system’s capability to improve efficiency and enable better risk‑based decision making.
- Create training materials and guidance and support users across the Service in making the most of the system.
- Support reporting and analysis, using built‑in tools to produce performance data that informs strategic priorities.
Why this role matters
CFRMIS sits at the core of the Service’s Prevention strategy. Your work will:
- Enable targeted, evidence led interventions.
- Improve how the Service understands and manages community risk.
- Create efficient digital workflows that free up staff time.
- Support the ambition to deliver a truly sector leading Prevention platform.
You will influence how thousands of interactions with the public are recorded, analysed and used to keep people safe.
